Ambassadeurs de la PIVP – Particuliers
La commissaire Ann Cavoukian a mis au point les principes de la protection intégrée de la vie privée dans les années 1990, mais au renouvellement de son mandat en 2009 elle a réitéré son engagement à faire progresser le concept et à assurer l’avenir de la protection de la vie privée. Des professionnels de la protection de la vie privée et des maîtres à penser de diverses disciplines ont réagi en appuyant sa campagne visant à faire en sorte que la protection de la vie privée fasse partie intégrante des technologies, pratiques opérationnelles et infrastructures physiques.
En reconnaissance de leur expertise et de leur soutien indéfectible au concept de la protection intégrée de la vie privée, les personnes suivantes ont été nommées Ambassadeurs de la PIVP.

Martin Abrams is Executive Director of the Centre for Information Policy Leadership at Hunton & Williams LLP, a global privacy and information security think tank, and an advisor to the Business Forum for Consumer Privacy. Mr. Abrams brings more than 30 years’ experience as a policy innovator to the Centre, where he pursues practical solutions to privacy and security problems. He is a leading theorist on global transfers of data based on accountability, and has led the movement in the US to adopt harms based approaches to privacy. He was a leader in developing layered privacy notices, and is currently working to bridge cultural differences in privacy. Mr. Abrams has led privacy programs on five continents, and is part of the APEC Data Privacy Subgroup.

As Oracle’s Vice President of Global Public policy, Mr. Alhadeff is responsible for coordinating and managing Oracle’s international and Internet-related policy issues.
As Chief Privacy Officer (CPO), Mr. Alhadeff oversees Oracle’s privacy program to ensure protection of personal information across all Oracle operations and product areas.
In addition to his role at Oracle, Mr. Alhadeff serves a prominent role in several influential international organizations dedicated to Internet policy, security and privacy. Mr Alhadeff serves as the BIAC Chair to the OECD ICCP Committee, head of industry delegation to the OECD Security Steering Group, and a Vice Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce’s Electronic Business and Information Technology Committee. In the US, Mr. Alhadeff chairs the Information Technology Committee for the US India Business Council, TechAmerica’s India Committee and the Government Affairs Committee for the Software and Information Industry Association. Mr. Alhadeff also co-chairs the USCIB’s Information Policy Committee and EABC’s Privacy and Data Security working group. Mr. Alhadeff is also the Chair of the US Malaysia Business Council, co-Chair of the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Technology Committee and serves on the NCAPEC Board. Mr Alhadeff also serves on the advisory boards of the DSCI, Wiredkids.org and serves as chair of The Privacy Projects.
Prior to joining Oracle, Mr. Alhadeff was General Counsel and Vice President for Electronic Commerce for the US Council for International Business (USCIB) in New York. Alhadeff holds and M.B.A. in management and information systems from New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law, and a B.A. from Oberlin College.

Joan Antokol is internationally recognized for her work in data privacy and security. She is the managing partner of Park Legal LLC, an Indianapolis-based law firm that was formed in May 2010, which focuses its practice in the areas of data protection, security and records management. Ms. Antokol is also the founder of an online training company and a software company. She assists a wide variety of global and local organizations with many aspects of privacy, security, records management and compliance. Her services include assisting companies in developing and implementing their data privacy and security programs, handling security breaches, and assisting companies with Safe Harbor certification and other aspects of data transfer compliance. She also assists clients with healthcare and clinical research privacy issues, cardholder data privacy and security issues, employee privacy, vendor management, information security, all aspects of privacy and security training, policies and procedures, risk assessments and implementing privacy and security auditing programs. For the last decade, her work in the privacy and security area has been based on the Privacy by Design approach, and she has created the PbD framework and implementation measures for a variety of organizations in establishing their privacy and security programs.
Joan is a frequent presenter at privacy conferences in the U.S. and E.U. and has a number of published articles about privacy, security and e-discovery. Since 2002, she has been a member of the International Working Group on Data Protection and Telecommunications (IWGDPT), which is a data protection regulator group Chaired by Dr. Alexander Dix, the Berlin Data Protection Commissioner. Joan is also the past chair of the Indiana Security and Privacy Network (InSPN), a privacy and security organization that currently has about 100 local organizations as members.
Before starting Park Legal LLC and its affiliated companies, Joan spent 17 years in an in-house role for two Fortune 100 pharmaceutical companies, first as senior counsel responsible for Hoffmann-La Roche’s global product liability litigation, and then from 2002 onwards, as the U.S. and then global head of data protection for the Novartis Group. In that role, Joan created all aspects of, operationalized and managed the global privacy program for the 260 companies in that group, and also assisted the company with other aspects of compliance.

James P. Avery is the Senior Vice President, Power Supply for San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E), a regulated subsidiary of Sempra Energy, a San Diego-based Fortune 500 energy services holding company whose subsidiaries provide electricity, natural gas and value-added products and services.
SDG&E is a regulated public utility that provides service to 3.4 million consumers through 1.4 million electric meters and 840,000 gas meters in San Diego and southern Orange counties.
As senior vice president of power supply, Avery oversees the company’s generation, system planning, project development and electric procurement business unit operations. In addition, Avery is responsible for the company’s Smart Grid technologies, policies and initiatives.
Prior to joining SDG&E, Avery was a consultant with R.J. Rudden Associates, one of the nation’s leading management and economic consulting firms specializing in energy and utility matters. Avery has extensive experience in utility operations and management. He was the chief executive officer of the electric and gas operations at Citizens Utilities Company, a multi-service organization that provided electric, gas, telecom, water and wastewater services in 21 states across the nation. He is the Chairman of the California Transmission Planning Group, a Director of the California Power Exchange and has served as a Director of Vermont Electric Power Company, RJ Rudden Associates and he held positions at American Electric Power.
Avery is an expert in energy markets, electric production, transmission and distribution operations. He also is a senior member of the Association of Energy Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and American Mensa.
Avery is a graduate of the Executive Management Program at Dartmouth College and he holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Manhattan College.

His Highness Prince Fahad bin Faisal Al Saud is the Saudi Arabian Foreign Ministry’s Head of Student Affairs at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia Consulate’s Legal Department in Los Angeles, California. Prince Fahad also serves as the business development and research lead for a Los Angeles-based joint alternative energy project between UCLA and the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.
Born in Taif, Saudi Arabia, he received a traditional Saudi education before commencing higher studies at Stanford University where he co-founded numerous clubs and organizations including the University’s first Islamic Society in 2003. Prior to his 2007 graduation with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a double minor in Management Science and Middle Eastern Studies, Prince Fahad had already started a number of successful businesses ,including a venture capital firm, interior design consultancy, travel agency, and real estate development firm.
An active proponent of technology and capacity building for entrepreneurship and innovation in the Kingdom and greater Arab World, in 2008 Prince Fahad became Facebook’s Analyst and Head of User Operations-Arabic. His work led to the 2009 launch of Facebook in Arabic, and led to Facebook quickly becoming the most frequently-used website for social and entrepreneurial activities across the Arabic-speaking region. His leadership on the endeavor won him the distinction of being named the Arab Youth Media Forum’s 2011 Most Influential International Youth.
In addition to his outspoken advocacy of health initiatives and cancer screening and awareness, His Highness is involved in a number of cultural, social and philanthropic activities that promote appreciation and preservation of Saudi Arabian culture.

Dr. Stefan Brands is a Principal Architect in Microsoft’s Identity & Security Division in Redmond. In this capacity he contributes broadly to the company’s technical and strategic efforts relating to identity, privacy, and security. Stefan joined Microsoft in February 2008 following the company’s acquisition of Credentica. Stefan is also an Adjunct Professor in cryptography at McGill University, serves on the advisory board of public interest research center EPIC, and has served on the external advisory board of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Prior to joining Microsoft, Stefan worked at e-cash pioneer DigiCash, at Zero-Knowledge Systems (privacy technology), and at Credentica (user-centric identity technology). Dr. Jacques Bus studied Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his PhD with a thesis in Numerical Mathematics. He worked as a researcher at CWI (Amsterdam) for 15 years. In 1988 he joined the European Commission services and has been working in several jobs in the Esprit and ICT research programmes.
From March 2004 he has taken responsibility for the unit Trust and Security in the ICT Programme, which includes Security of Network and Service infrastructures, Critical Information Infrastructure Protection, Identity and Privacy management, and enabling technologies for trust and security.
